Fundraising Coordinator Needed
With the recent addition of the new indoor practice facility at the Village Glen, ASA has the opportunity to expand our corporate and community fundraising activities to further the development of youth soccer in the Amherst area.  The Board of Directors is looking for a volunteer to coordinate fundraising activities for the club. If you have experience in fundraising or are willing to help coordinate this effort, please contact or club president, Rob Anderson (president@amherstsoccer.com) or Marty Ott (Registrar@amherstsoccer.com).

TRAVEL TRYOUT SCHEDULE

Attend at least one if you are a returning player.  If you are new to travel and age 11 to 16, try to attend each tryout to give the coaches a chance to make a decision.  Returning players have coach evaluations on file that will be the primary source of information for team placement.  A brief presentation will be held at the tryouts to explain the program and answer any questions.

Should a 7-year old play on a 10-year old team?
Why we don't allow playing "up" or out of your age group.

If a child is the best reader in the class, moving him out of the classroom and into the grade above is not typically considered. We might provide a more challenging book or focus on reading comprehension. So he can read, but does he remember and understand what he’s reading like the kids in the grade above can? We might even create a separate reading group to give him some opportunities to challenge his reading. But parents and educators recognize that there is much more needed to ensure proper development than being a good reader to justify moving up a grade in school.
