POSITION: Soccer Director
LOCATION: Amherst, New York
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Amherst Soccer Association issearching for a Soccer Director with a strong background in youth coaching and who shares in our “development first” philosophy. The Director will oversee all soccer related activities of the club as well as maintain, develop, and conduct coach, player, and parent programs and clinics for all levels. In addition, the Director is responsible for facility management, summer camp(s) administration, and development of new programs. The Director will also act as an ambassador for ASA within the Buffalo/Western New York and the New York State West soccer communities.
The Director will work closely with the club’s President and Board of Directors.
COMPENSATION: This is a full-time position with salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will possess a four year degree and have experience in soccer club administration. In addition, a minimum of a USSF ’C’ License or equivalent is necessary. The preferred candidate will also have exceptional organizational, leadership and teaching ability and has excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants should also have superior written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate comfort with public speaking. The candidate must possess strong computer skills and be comfortable creating and editing word processing and spreadsheet documents.
BACKGROUND: The Amherst Soccer Association is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing children instruction, enjoyment and competition in the sport of soccer. Established in 1978, Amherst Soccer has grown to a membership of over 2,300 children age 5 –19. In 2008, our diverse program offerings included:
- U6 Instructional (100+ players)
- U8 – U17 Recreational House League – fall and spring (1,300+ players each session)
- U10 – U19 Travel Soccer for boys and girls (600+ players)
- Winter Indoor House League play (small sided - 300+ players per session)
- Various camps and clinics for players, coaches, and parents.
Amherst, NY has a population of approximately 120,000 and is a suburb of Buffalo, NY.
