All the hard work really pays off for the good guys.
If you’re going to win your own tournament you might as well do it in style. Scoring 25 goals in 5 games, while having only one lucky goal scored against, says it all. That’s what happens when you have blazing speed on the wings, ball control up the middle, scary good defense and a brick wall in the net. Two trophies in two tournaments, not bad.
Congratulations to the 2008 AIM Champs, you guys deserve it ! Also, thanks to all the parents, family and friends for their support and encouragement, you’re the best !
2008 Lakefront Tournament Champions ! ! !
One was just not enough.
The Arsenal continued where they left off from AIM. The smothering defense and opportunistic offense was too much for the opposition. With tougher competition came similar results. This time it was 13 goals for and one hard earned goal against. It was destiny that it would be a rematch of the 2007 championship.
Webster’s luck couldn’t hold out this year, as we avenged our loss to them from 2007. This time we got the 1-0 half time lead and buried them in the second. This time no lucky crosses from the touchline that found the net. With everyone on the edge of their seat, we put it away midway through the second to make it 2-0 and then added a third goal just to prove who was the boss.
Congratulations once again to the Arsenal boys, you make us coaches and parents proud. I know a good time was had by all the parents that stayed over on Saturday night and I would again like to thank all the Arsenal supporters who tried to quiet down those rowdy Webster fans. You did a great job.
