Sunday March 9---

The Amherst Barcelona U10 boys team was in action again on Sunday against the Clarence Mustangs at the Epic center.  The first half was dominated by Barcelona.  Ben N scored on his patented run down the right wing and shot to the left corner of the net.  Dylan M then scored two in a row with perfectly placed shots to the corners.  The scoring was rounded out by a blast from Andrew L as he streaked down the right side of the field.  Clarence was only able to beat Sam K once on a perfect shot to give the Amherst team a 4-1 lead at half time.

During the intermission the boys talked about two weeks ago when they had been up by the same score only to tie the game.  They vowed to not let that happen again and Ben N lofted a perfect shot from midfield behind the Clarence goalie early in the half.  The play was then being dominated in the midlfiled by Barcelona's  Andrew S, Jared C, Evan M, Max L,  Peter H, and Jay L.  Ben N lofted another shot from outside the penalty area that the goalkeeper was unable to handle and Sam K banged in the rebound.  The only shot to beat Alex R in net was a perfect strike the was partially deflected and still made it to the corner.  Amherst took home a well deserved 6-2 victory.

Next week will be another test from Clarence, against the Wild.  The Wild are coming off a close contest with the Blizzard last week and a defeat of second place United two weeks ago.  So Barcelona should not expect the same team that they defeated 10-1 earlier in the season.  It will be a short practice week with only one practice before next week's game.
