Barca Tied by Lightning
Late rally by the Lightning leaves Barcelona shocked
February 24, 2008---
The Amherst Barcelona U10 boys soccer team continued their indoor season with a disappointing 4-4 tie with the Lightning on Sunday. At the end of the game the boys were visably upset with the result. Max L was between the posts for the first half as the team gave up an early goal to the Lightning before taking over the half and dominating the play. Sam K had received a nice through ball from Peter H and placed a bouncing ball under the cross bar. Minutes later Andrew S rocketed a shot with his less dominant left foot and Barcelona had a 2-1 lead at halftime.
The second half started much the way the first first half ended with Barcelona in the Lightning half of the field. Dylan M and Evan M cranked beautiful shots to opposite corners from just outside of the penalty area while Andrew L backstopped the boys to a commanding 4-1 lead. With the game under control the coaches were relaxing on the bench discussing the finer points of the EPIC field lighting when the furious come back began. After the game, the Coaches let the players vent some frustration before reminding the boys they win, lose, and tie as a team.
The week ahead will be important for the team to work hard in practice as they prepare for the undefeated United team next week.
