Amherst Barcelona 5 Clarence Mustangs 0
First win of the New Season
January 20, 2008
The Amherst FC Bacrelona U10 boys soccer team recorded their first win of the new indoor season with a commanding 5-0 blanking of the Clarence Mustangs at the Epic Center on Sunday afternnoon. Amherst had to play a smart game with no substitutes for the whole match. Robbie S started in goal and had to make some key saves in the early going before Barcelona got rolling. Despite controlling play, Andrew S recorded the only tally of the first half.
In the second half Peter H continued the shutout by neatly stopping Clarence through balls at the top of the penalty area. Amherst’s offense was lead by a goal from Andrew L and two from Dylan M. The boys played well as a team moving the ball wide and overall good passing. The best example came midway through the half when Max L placed a good throw-in to Andrew L who threaded a beautiful passl to Sam K who then went in alone on the goal to score. The coaches had little to say after the game except to praise the boys on their effort.
Next week Barcelona faces a tough challenge from the Clarence Wild.
