ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
New! NYWEST Institutes policy regarding Coach and Parent conduct

We expect all parents, spectators and coaches to understand the conduct required at a soccer match. NY West, our parent organization, has implemented a new policy that takes effect immediately.  Please familiarize yourself with proper conduct towards the referees.  In many instances, these referees are young children themselves who have just recently become referees.  We need to support them in their development.  Let’s all sit back, enjoy the action and leave the control of the game to the refs.  Don’t get caught up in the heat of the action and say the wrong thing or embarass your child.  Let the coach coach, the kids play, let the refs ref.   continue...

Travel Uniforms

The ASA Board has selected the new travel uniforms for the club.  They were chosen to provide a professional look, and provide excellent wearability. comfort, and durability.  Our uniform will be good for the next two years.  We have decided that going longer than 2-years does not work well due to players outgrowing, losing or having stained outfits and needing to purchase parts.  ASA has not raised the travel price this year and hopes to keep prices stable.  We negotiated a contract that allows us to maintain the cost of the uniform at $75 per set per player (included in registration the first year).  This is the same price that was charged for the last 3 years of travel uniforms.  Our costs have gone up as a club by at least $35,000 in the last year and we have managed to maintain the fees without an increase across the board in 2011/2012.

All players registering for travel soccer this year will be required to purchase the uniform set (included in prices) at the time of registration.  This set includes home and away jerseys, red shorts, red socks, a practice jersey.  Additionally, the team can purchase an optional third jersey in long sleeves for a cold weather option.  We will be providing samples of warmups, bags, training tops, etc. at uniform fittings that are other team or individual options.

Purpose of the Travel Program
Please contact us for more information on philosophy and any other questions you may have.
The purpose of the Amherst Soccer Association Travel Program is to provide a balanced program that affords opportunities for maximum skill development and the challenge of playing at a higher level of competition.

Amherst Soccer Association Travel Teams will be established to provide an opportunity for players who both desire more advanced play and have appropriate level of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

It is the aim of all Amherst Soccer Association Travel Teams to meet the developmental needs of a travel player, taking into account a player’s physical, mental, and social growth and developmental needs as well as player/parent commitment.

The Amherst Soccer Association will support the formation of at least one boy’s and girl’s teams at all age levels. Amherst Soccer Association will support the formation of a second or third team in an age group wherever possible provided there is a qualified coach and the appropriate number of qualified players.

Each team will play in the BWNYJSL at the age divisions requested by the coach of each team and approved by the Director of Coaching. If the team so desires and is approved by the Director of Coaching they may also apply to play in the Thruway League as well.

Travel coaches must apply each season to coach a team. These applications are reviewed by the Director of Coaching. The Director of Coaching will make recommendations to the Board of Directors to be approved as the coach. Anyone wishing to coach needs to contact the Director by June.

Players and parents must make a commitment to the team and the club. A player’s commitment includes, attending practices, scrimmages, and all scheduled games. It will also include going to tournaments and camps and participating in indoor and outdoor training. Parents are expected to support their children in those endeavors. Parents may also be asked to participate in "club oriented fund raising", to help improve or add to our facilities and fields. Please plan to be committed to the team throughout the whole travel season and be prepared to attend tournaments and games and delay family vacations until after the season.

Playing time for your child will be fair and as equal as possible through U12 and is mandated by the league to be equalized by game or season.  This focuses on development opportunities rather than team results.  U13 and older the amount of time shall be earned, and based on merit, commitment and attendance as determined by the travel team coaching staff.
