Things I can do at Home to be a Better Player

Here is a link to a site that discusses several moves you can use to beat an opponent, including the cut back, the fake shot, the step-over (scissors), the reverse step-over, the double step-over and the inside outside:

Also try:

PASSING
* Kick the ball against a wall (get your parents permission first!)
* Kick the ball with a friend, parent, brother or sister
* Kick the ball against a tree or a fence
* Things to remember while working on your passing:
  - Try to keep the ball on the ground by using the inside of your foot and striking the middle of the ball.  Remember, bouncy balls are harder for your teammates to control.
  - Strength/Pace on the ball:  Two ideas: (1) from the same distance, try to get the ball to your target faster, while still keeping it on the ground; (2) as you get comfortable, try passes from farther back.
  - Accuracy: if against a wall, place a chalk mark or piece of masking take on your target (near the ground).  See how many times you can hit the mark out of 10.  Can you do it while kicking the ball harder?  See if you can beat your mom or dad!

DRIBBLING
* Dribble around trees, swings, pools, doghouses, anything!
* Set up an obstacle course to dribble through.
* Race your brother, sister, mom, dad, or friend from one side to another.
* Play 1 v 1 against anyone!  Try to get the ball around them and still maintain possession.
* Things to remember while dribbling:
  - Keep the ball close.
  - Try to pick your head up to see where your going while still moving with the ball.
  - Use all parts of your feet, BUT do not use your toe.

Any questions, please ask your coaches.  Most importantly, have fun with it!!! :)
