The Wildcats played their first tournament of the season, May 3rd and 4th in Akron at the Kick It First tournament. They played in a U10 division and lost their first game to a very good Niagara Pioneer Panthers team. The girls played very hard against a bigger and stronger team.
The loss taught the Wildcats a valuable lesson. In order to compete against a bigger team, you need to show a bigger heart and determination. This they showed in the next two games, both victories.
Game two pitted the Wildcats against the GASA Tigers. In a back and forth affair and in severe rainy weather, the Wildcats prevailed on a late goal to win 2-1. The last game was against the Northern Crew Leopards and the Wildcats showed some bite winning big, 6-2. The game was tight for a while, but the girls pulled away.
A fine first tournament for the Amherst Wildcats.
